I am sure, mine, and most people in the UK’s day starts like this: coffee and email.
However, according to a new study conducted by BT, 20 per cent of Brits have not experienced the pleasure of sending an email. Not even once.
True, these people don’t know the frustrating side of the emailing – getting annoying newsletters that you have never signed up for, SPAM or JUNK mail or worse yet, malicious emails, filled with nasty phishing links or trojans. I won’t judge you if you just shivered while reading this.
However, this also means that non-emailers are missing out on a platform which can potentially make it easier for them to stay in touch with their family and friends, or even Aunt Sue who has recently moved to Australia.
Gavin Patterson, BT’s CSR Champion, shared a similar opinion when he said:
“Of those not online, four million are also the most socially and digitally excluded. We’ve been working since 2002 to tackle this digital divide and are committed to helping 100,000 more people get online by the end of next year.”
Bottom line is, do a good deed, take a moment and show a non-emailer who you might know how to use the platform.
