I can tell you this much, it’s a good time to be a kid.

Even better if you are based in Surrey as the county’s schools are to get a broadband boost – worth £10m.

It has been said already that broadband is the new pen and paper as the world steps into a new digitalised era.

Peter Martin, Cabinet Member for Children and Learning was reported by the The Rye and Battle Observer as saying:

“Surrey has some of the best state schools in the country and ensuring they are in the internet fast lane is vital in making sure they continue to set high standards.”

However, the question is why is it only Surrey’s Council that could cough up this investment? What about other County Councils, will they lag behind or compete in the digitalised rat race?

Growing up, many of us did not have an opportunity to have a computer at home, let alone at school, so if the council can provide funds – why not grab the opportunity to cater for the children.

After all, they are the future.

I think you’ll find many councils already have… Hampshire for one.
