Whilst Sky leads the way in high definition TV (HDTV) in the UK with a line up of 34 HD TV channels, Virgin Media are the sure leaders in on-demand TV content. They offer the largest library of on-demand digital TV having done deals with BBC iPlayer, and ITV Player among others.
And now Virgin Media TV has announced plans to boost their on-demand TV offer further with the launch of Living Player. Available this autumn, the Living Player will offer seven-day catch-up on shows such as Ghost Whisperer and Grey’s Anatomy, as well as hours of archive content previously shown on the channel.
As Living HD is soon to laucnh on Virgin’s HDTV lineup, Living Player will also offer HDTV content for free to all customers on the XL digital TV package.
“Living Player will provide the ultimate on-demand fix of entertainment for our viewers, offering everything they want, whenever they want it,” said VMtv’s director of television Claudia Rosencrantz. “It positions Living brilliantly for the future of television.”
VMtv managing director Johnny Webb added: “Living is consolidating its position at the front of the pay TV pack. With HD also launching later in 2009, Living Player is yet another example of the way VMtv is embracing the brave new world of brilliant brands across every screen.”
