A brand new marketing campaign from the BBC sees TV chef James Martin explain the many benefits of the recently improved BBC iPlayer service.

Martin highlights features such as ‘series catch up’ which allows viewers to watch an entire series of their favourite show outside of the usual 7 day window.

The advert shows Mr. Martin using a laptop to access the service but the improvements have not just happened online, they are also available on the iPlayer TV service with Virgin Media cable TV.

Customers can press red on any BBC TV channel and select BBC iPlayer and then ‘Series Catch Up’ to access the new improved VOD service.

With the catch up service, once an episode of a show has been shown on TV customers can not only watch that programme but also up to 13 of the previous episodes on the iPlayer TV service.

Programmes are shown in categories such as Entertainment & Comedy and Factual to make choosing your favourite shows easier. According to the Virgin Media website BBC Alba is now also available as part of the VOD catch up service.

The BBC iPlayer launched on Virgin Media in April 2008. In May of this year the BBC and Virgin Media announced that more HD content would be added to the service as part of the many VOD offerings already available on the platform.

Customers with a V+ HD set top box are able to benefit from the HD iPlayer content. The V+ set top box allows you to pause, rewind and record live TV. A benefit over the Sky+ service is that you can record two channels and watch another live programme at the same time thanks to three tuners inside the set top box.

Can’t get home to watch your favourite program? Don’t worry, BBC iPlayer has a brand new catch up service.
