Mobile broadband dongle sales are on the up with reports today that 18,000 dongles were sold every week for the month of March.
Other figures to note is that 60,000 dongles were sold in January this year compared to that of 27,000 in October 2008.

Unlike some, the UK government is always open to a shot in the arm.
Many industry experts are commending websites such as Facebook and Twitter for the rise in dongle sales with the core market moving away from ‘business customers’ to ‘leisure customers’ wanting to stay in touch with their friends through the social networking sites.
These figures have also given the UK Government a big shot in the arm.
With mobile broadband dongles moving off the shelves faster than ever Lord Carter’s Universal Broadband project is also a step closer to fruition.
One option that will make this possible is to use the wireless networks already occupied by the mobile phone providers. More people with dongles equals more users able to access the internet via the mobile broadband networks.
With loads of top mobile broadband deals on the market it’s not surprising to see the sales climbing. Many providers are now catering to those of us without laptops by offering 18-24 month plans with a laptop included.
Providers such as Three offer a pay as you go service for those of us that only need to use broadband intermittently but, if you’re a more heavy broadband internet user and wouldn’t mind updating your laptop then its worthwhile looking at the contract plans that offer a laptop within the monthly tariff.
